From 4pm today, Sunday 8 August, the SEQ lockdown will end (with some restrictions in place for 14 days) and Cairns and Yarrabah will enter a three-day lockdown after a new case was detected in the community.

πŸ“ SOUTH EAST QUEENSLAND

Lockdown will end at 4pm today, with the following restrictions in place until 22 August to keep the community safe:

😷 Wear a face mask when outside your home
🏠 Gatherings restricted to 10 people in homes (including residents) and public spaces
🍽️ Businesses and venues can operate with density limits
πŸŽ’ Staff at schools and students from grade 7 and above must wear masks
πŸ’’ Weddings and funerals can have up to 20 people attend
⚽ No community sport

πŸ“ CAIRNS & YARRABAH

The Cairns Regional Council and Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council areas will enter lockdown from 4pm today until 4pm Wednesday 11 August, after a Cairns resident tested positive to COVID-19. Stay home unless it’s absolutely essential to leave for one of these reasons:

βœ… to buy essentials such as groceries or medications
βœ… attend essential work if you can’t do so from home
βœ… exercise within 10km from home
βœ… healthcare (including to get a COVID-19 test or vaccination) or to provide help, care or support to vulnerable persons

Lockdown restrictions include:

😷 Wear a face mask when outside your home
🏠 Only 2 visitors are allowed to your home (excluding volunteers and workers)
🍽️ Restaurants and cafes can provide takeaway or delivery service only
πŸ“½οΈ All non-essential businesses to close; cinemas, entertainment and recreation venues, hairdressers, gyms etc.
β›ͺ Places of worship to close
πŸŽ’ School to remain open for children of essential workers. Adults at schools must wear masks and students from grade 7 and above
🍼 Childcare to remain open for essential workers
πŸ’’ Weddings and funerals can have up to 20 people attend
πŸ₯ Restrictions on aged care, hospitals, disability care and correctional facilities apply with no personal visitors allowed (excluding end of life visits)
